TERESITA GÓMEZ | Overture Concert
CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL of the REGIONS
On Monday 19 June at 6 p.m. with a piano concert by maestro Teresita Gómez in the ORF Radiokulturhaus in Vienna.
The MUNDO REDONDO Organization, under the direction of Juan Muñoz, will launch one of the most exciting projects of this year of the round world:
CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL of the REGIONS
Teresita Gómez is one of Colombia’s musical greats, considered the grand dame of the piano.
She has dedicated her life to music, studying with some of the best pianists in the world. She has performed internationally, always with critical acclaim for her graceful interpretations.
Born in Medellín in 1943, Gómez began her training at the Institute of Fine Arts at the age of 4. Recognized as an incredible talent from early on resulted in lessons with piano legends Tatiana Goncharova, Harold Martina, Barbara Hesse, Jakob Lateiner, and Klaus Bassler.
She was a member of the Colombian Ensemble of Contemporary Music, the Frank Preuss Trio, and the Bogotá Quintet. She also worked as a pianist for the Medellín Opera (1971–1972) and the Ópera de Colombia (1975–1981).
Gómez has recorded several albums, including Teresa Gómez a Colombia (1983), Intimo (2006), and Antología I (2007). She performed for the soundtrack of the film El Infinito Vuelo de los Días, and made a special appearance in the film Fragmentos de Amor.
She teaches piano at the Institute of Fine Arts in Medellín and at the universities of Antioquia, Caldas, Cauca, EAFIT, and Andes.
In recognition of an artistic career spanning decades, the Colombian Government in 2005 granted her the country’s most prestigious order, the Cross of Boyacá. Gómez was recently decorated by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá (OFB) with the Order of Philharmonic Merit.

The point is that Vienna, the capital of classical music opens its doors to the classical music of the world.
With this overture to the festival or with this concert we will take a giant step on the way to a Europe that is receptive to the culture of other regions of this round world.

The tickets will cost 22 euros, which will cover the costs of this beautiful endeavour and will start the journey of a classical music festival of the regions.
